Patient Safety
To Our Dear Patients,
We hope everyone is safe and well. Although we have been open for emergency care throughout this pandemic, our return to ‘normal’ needs to be done in a careful and phased fashion, as per physical distancing measures and protocols recommended in the Ontario Ministry of Health document released on May 26, 2020.
Logistically, this means that for the first few months, we may have less flexibility for certain times when booking appointments.
Here’s how we are keeping everyone safe and what you can expect at your next appointment
– All patients will be triaged and appointments will be scheduled by phone (please do not visit the office unless you have spoken with us).
– We have renovated and sealed two treatment rooms to prevent the spread of aerosol generating procedures.
– Appointments will be scheduled to avoid or limit direct face-to-face interaction with others, including staff and other patients.
– When you arrive, please remain in your vehicle, and call us to let us know you have arrived.
– Please arrive wearing a mask/cloth covering. All patients and visitors are required to wear a mask at all times while in the office except during the provision of care.
– If possible, please brush your teeth before your arrival.
– When you arrive, your temperature will be taken and shoe covers will be provided.
– Individuals accompanying a patient will be required to wait outside the practice unless absolutely required (e.g., a parent accompanying a young child or a patient who requires accommodation).
– Check out is now contactless – If you have insurance, we will submit to your insurance company as we have always done however, we will require a credit card # to bill remotely.
– Receipts and other insurance forms will be emailed or mailed to you.
– We have renovated and sealed two treatment rooms to prevent the spread of aerosol generating procedures.
– Prior to COVID-19 we had installed two surgical grade 6 stage filtration units to ‘clean’ the air. Here’s a link for those you want to know more about this https://surgicallycleanair.com
– Plexiglas barriers have been installed where necessary.
– Despite severe shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE), we have been fortunate to secure all necessary PPE.
– The use of a UVC light for enhance infection control measures in clinical and common areas.
– We have switched from paper records to digital records to improve infection control.
From the bottom of our hearts, we ask in advance for your patience and understanding when booking appointments with our staff during this re-opening stage. Like the rest of the world, we are adapting to this new way of life. Eventually we will perfect our systems in this “new world”. Once we pass this “backlog” of appointments, you will be able to book your appointments as usual. In the meantime, we will be working tirelessly to provide continuation of care to all our patients in a fair, timely and safe manner.
Keep smiling!
